Question: I'm behind a firewall. Can I still participate in a LiveTalk?
Answer: A computer protected by a firewall can be used to participate in a LiveTalk if the firewall allows it. You may need to speak to your network administrators (if you do not administer your own firewall on your own computer) and ask them to open port 1935 for both inbound and outbound TCP/IP traffic.
Please be advised that opening this port may not work in all instances, especially on highly secure networks, and if packet filtering is activated by the network administrators on ports 1935 and 80.
Firewall or network administrators determine the points at which information can flow into and out of a network. You will have to speak to your network administrators if you think this will be a problem for you. JHSPH cannot configure your network for you.
Proxy Server Issues
If your company uses a proxy server to control Internet access, this may affect your ability to access LiveTalk. Try the following:
Within Internet Explorer:
* Select Tools.
* Choose Internet Options, then the Advanced tab.
* Enable the setting Use HTTP 1.1 through proxy connections and click OK.
* Close all browser windows and re-open before trying to connect to LiveTalk again.
