Welcome Malariology is designed to help you understand present issues related to malaria as a major public health problem. The course will emphasize the biological, clinical and epidemiologic aspects of malaria parasites, human hosts and mosquito vectors. Malariology topics include host-parasite-vector relationships with parasite biology; vector biology; epidemiology and host immunity; Malaria control strategies of diagnosis and chemotherapy with the impact of drug resistance, anti-vector measures; vaccine development; and management and policy issues. Instructional resources for the course include lectures, practice questions, reading assignments, electronic bulletin board discussions, and LiveTalk sessions. The course has no prerequisites.
