Welcome to Life Course Perspectives on Health.
In this course, we'll focus on the "production" of health in
populations. We'll explore
questions such as:
- What do we mean by health, disease, and functional
disabilities —and how are they measured?
- How do we account for the complex social,
economic, cultural, environmental, genetic, and behavioral factors that
interact to produce the health disparities
seen in different populations?
- Why are fetal, infant, and childhood development
critical to understanding chronic diseases among the elderly?
- How can we appropriately
intervene in different cultural settings to improve health outcomes?
