Welcome

Welcome to Life Course Perspectives on Health.

In this course, we'll focus on the "production" of health in populations. We'll explore questions such as:

  • What do we mean by health, disease, and functional disabilities —and how are they measured?
  • How do we account for the complex social, economic, cultural, environmental, genetic, and behavioral factors that interact to produce the health disparities seen in different populations?
  • Why are fetal, infant, and childhood development critical to understanding chronic diseases among the elderly?
  • How can we appropriately intervene in different cultural settings to improve health outcomes?
