Welcome to Confronting the Burden of Injuries: A Global Perspective. This course highlights the role of injury as a leading cause of healthy life lost and the burden of health in both poor and industrialized populations. The course will focus on how to measure the magnitude, assess the nature, and recognize the neglect of the injury problem in countries with little history of injury prevention, as well as how to evaluate the need for planning injury prevention programs in such countries. The course will emphasize the opportunities and barriers in applying effective and efficient injury control measures.
